Description
The folds of the pages in this model create an effect that reminds one of oriental lanterns where grace and movement live together with precision and calm.
Enclosed in a Perspex case, called Theca, the folded book sculpture is protected and made even more special.
Created using an old, obsolete volume, the Folded Book sculpture is made by hand-folding the pages, one by one. Done slowly and without interruption, each gesture is repeated thousands of time as the paper transforms under the fingers. It is an art that requires patience and dedication; a sort of meditation where the rhythm of the gesture synchronizes with the rhythm of the soul until the metamorphosis is complete.
About the Brand
Sharing unique, hand-folded paper sculptures that please the heart and mind, Crizu represents an act of pure creativity that inspires peace and harmony while providing a second life for books.
Crizu gives old books a second chance: all pages are folded by hand, one by one, with art and patience, until an old volume is transformed into a new and marvelous paper sculpture. The shape of the book changes, but the book remains intact. It can still be read and scrolled through, or one can simply admire its metamorphosis into an object of art and design.
Crizu takes these objects that are imbued with memories and become more beautiful with the passing of time. By folding the pages of such books, elements of history, culture, and beauty are brought to the finished piece.
