The traditional Staunton Chess set was designed by architect Nathaniel Cooke who took details from a number of different chess sets, however the more interestingly took inspiration from classical architecture details which he saw in the city around him.
With this in mind, Skyline Chess thought it only fitting that they added a Staunton design into the Skyline collection, with their own contemporary aesthetic and materiality applied. The result is a classic Staunton design with contemporary detailing. This 34-piece set is hand-cast in solid steel with 2 extra queens included for pawn promotion.
As each piece is handmade, small imperfections can happen. This part of the handmade process is what makes the products unique and should not be seen as a fault. Each set comes complete with a hand screen-printed marble hatch playing board and in a presentation box.
