Description
Created by Jeff Lieberman of Wonder machines, Slow Dance combines technology, science, and art, reminding us of the natural mystery, beauty and wonder that surround us every day. By taking advantage of the limits of human visual perception, this optical illusion makes real objects appear to move in slow motion.
Designed to look like a picture frame, except that there’s no picture and no glass — instead, two clips hold objects inside the frame. Slow Dance functions through the use of high-speed strobe lights which blink 80 times a second; so fast that your eyes cannot even see that they are blinking, and the light looks continuous. By synchronizing the strobes to the high-speed vibration of objects held in the clips, from flowers in the garden to bird feathers, each object will reveal a new slow-motion world and change how you see them forever.
