The On-Off Lamp is designed by Tomas Schats for Seletti and crafted from recycled cardboard. It was inspired by the designer viewing his neighbors actions from the window of his own house.
Families assembled home after a day of work/school. Slowly (each at a time) turning on their lights. In a childlike way, the designer thought of the idea to click the lights on by himself by pushing the windows of the houses across the street. The design of the On-Off Lamp is a translation of this sentiment, using the dormer window as a switch.
Created to encourage users to re-think common occurrences, it presents an ordinary situation from a different perspective.
