The Gee Bee Model R Super Sportster was a special-purpose racing aircraft made by Granville Brothers Aircraft of Springfield, Massachusetts. Created for the 1932 air racing season, the Gee Bee took its name from the initials of Granville Brothers and was recognizable for its stubby body appearance and teardrop-shaped fuselage which was conceived to reduce drag.
