The result of a collaboration of passions between Riera and his longtime friend, fashion and portrait photographer, Emilio Hernandez, the Men collection originally contained 5 paintings, titled Men I, Men II, Men III, Men IV, and Men V. The paintings are mixed media, collage on canvas, consisting of photographs taken by Hernandez which were then mounted on a canvas covered with bright colors and patterns created with Riera’s Clover technique which uses vivid colors and fluorescent acrylics that are degraded at different concentrations. Riera then utilizes a “Clover” stencil which creates degradations and shadows on the base colors, giving the effect of texture and depth.
About the Brand
Máximo Riera has been a practicing artist for over 30 years, predominately working in photography, painting, and sculpture. Inspired by his travel and experiences through Europe and the Caribbean Islands, Máximo’s vibrant use of color and evocative attention to detail have been an inspiration which convey the meaning of his creations. His work also demonstrates a predominant influence from abstract expressionism and the Pop Art movements. Born in Asturias, Northern Spain, Máximo has now retired to his studio in Cadiz where he paints and sculpts each day. His most notable creations are his Animal Chairs collection, Millennial Consoles, and his artwork.
